Pros

Co-workers are nice and some are good to be friends with. Set hours (and you can pick the set hours), weekends off. The pay. That about wraps the "pros" up.

Cons

Managers take credit for what their "team" does. Micromanaging is absolutely terrible. Its practically babysitting The technology there is really out of date. Windows XP? Really... It's 2012... Most people there only know how to do *their* job only. They don't know how to do anything else. Contractors getting treated very, very, poorly.

Pros

Don't require education to be respected at Abbott and in fact earlier you commence career and remain with Abbott, better off you will be. Non base pay benefits exceed many provided by other Massachusetts companies.

Cons

Worcester site: Tolerant of harassment including physical harassment. High turnover rate for Manufacturing. Rather than mar PR image, employee bullying prominent to reduce Manufacturing staff. Reduction of Manufacturing staff and overtime to show management's ability to reduce labor costs has caused a cessation in cross training outside the plant hindering career growth for those desiring to move outside the plant environment.

Pros

The last day was so blissful.

Cons

Management culture is so morality reprehensible it will cause you stress that will adversity effect your health. I worked with Abbott for over 20 years. The first 10 were fine. The last 5 were hell. Management only displays the carrot and never the reward. Promotions are granted on the good old boy system of blind loyalty and competent employees are never considered. At this rate the company will be run by a herd of drooling idiots.
