Some colleagues, genuinely interesting work, good benefits

Cons

Indecisive management end up asking you to redo most of your work. They look for opportunities to knock you back as a way to control you or in other cases bully you. This creates a high degree of anxiety and dysfunctional behaviour. Worse, managers who aggressively manage their staff get promoted. The turnover of staff is high as a result of the toxic environment.

The company is virtually a 1-stop shop for cardiovascular devices. This means employees can contribute to any discipline within cardiology

Cons

Weird management structure. They are still trying to deal with post-merger integration. Many of St. Jude’s brightest have left after the merger.

My job was interesting and I enjoyed doing it well. Pay was good, benefits were very good.

Cons

Abbott bought Alere and decided to fix what wasn't broken, alienate the former-Alere folks, and impose the Abbott model on everyone. Many of the good people are gone now, those who remain are biding their time until retirement.
