Pros

-a lot of employees in the same building, it means you can know many interesting people -a lot of nationalities, that's cool -big company to build up your experience and CV

Cons

-no leadership trainings: leads and managers (and also head of) are completely inexperienced and dont know how to deal with people/teams/projects -no trainings at all actually: learning and developing is not implemented at all -management only takes decision, all the rest of the employees are not involved at all in the decision-making (even in the decision sharing actually - transparency is an unknown topic) -subjective rules: depending on your situation/experience/person, decisions like promotions, increases etc will be taken. It's not consistent and compliant to any sort of structure -weak possibilities of growing, still anchored to KPIs kind of style, not truly meritocratic environment -values/culture: don't exist. No real team bonding. -retention of employees: don't exist. You resign? Fine, this is the door

Pros

Central location which makes an easy commute

Cons

Operational: only skill you need is excel, which is 60% of all the tasks, the other 35% is google sheet. Basically nothing else. So much for a "tech startup" when you basically just use excel. Technical: not an engineer or product person, all this company cares about is operations aka running the business aka selling and transporting cars. Execution is absolute, which leads to a mountain of technical debt, which they don't seem to care. There is no technology, the internal platform is from early 2000s (company founded in 2012), offers very limited functionalities and has a horrible interface. Because of that, there is no effort in automating anything, everything is fairly manual and data quality is a joke. Sometimes you will be surprised to know there is actually an engineering department here. Cultural: No perks, no sense of community, no pride, no sense of belonging, which the company doesn't seem to care at all. If you are not German, you will not hangout with the Germans, there is no effort of any kind of integration. People seem to just care about their own tasks and would not bother to do anything extra to help anyone else. No one knows how the company is doing, no sense of vision and values. Poor management, managers do not manage and just want things done, no career guidance, no feedback and no room for personal growth. Upper management very egoistic and seems to get off on being rude and hostile to their subordinates.

Pros

+ Free fruit twice a week + Might find some nice colleagues you can learn from + Good pay if you are ready to die inside + HR department polite and professional

Cons

- No growth possible even if promised all the time - Bad communication on tasks and updates - No Betriebsrat or prevention institution for discrimination and mobbing - Bosses don’t care about employees as people. They don’t know any personal information about the employees (sometimes they don’t introduce when you join the company and never remember your name). They like to shame and lack any social savoir faire- just awkward atmosphere - Even though HR is professional and pay is good- turnover is very high and for a reason. Job descriptions are inflated to the ridiculous and, being overlooked, people lose motivation. - Depressing Christmas/summer parties, where bosses stay till the end to check if you behave - Very paternalistic, bosses will tell you not to check your phone, will discourage to talk to your colleagues, will look at your screens to be sure your videos are work related and if you wanna turn Spotify on for focus, well - you can’t - A matter of taste, but… open office structure - Managers and team leads are reluctant to give feedback: it goes from answering on a chat for urgent issue to organizing feedback talks to discuss work and contract updates. Had 1 meeting in 17 months and so did many others. - If you work in marketing or product, get ready for a weekly update that never ends.
