Pros

1. The pay is decent...

Cons

1. Serious office politics - There are multiply ''FAVOURITES'' within the work place which, includes deputy and senior management. If you are favoured then you can get away with taking extra breaks (which adds up to nearly an extra full hour), turning up nearly an half an hour late to shifts or more... IF YOU ARE NOT; then you are outcast, treated like dirt, have foul language thrown in your face by Store Assistants and Management, NEVER rotated from tills and always become placed on main till (due to the fact that the ''FAVOURITES'' will ONLY WORK with the other favoured), have the ''FAVOURITES'' belittle you as well as bully you distastefully when your back is turned...Its disgraceful and DISRESPECTFUL! 2. Shifts that are ILLEGALLY being scheduled e.g. working a close, followed by an open which gives you 7 hours between shifts! This is continuously reoccurring, and you the employee are told to ''DEAL WITH IT'' by the management (but their response uses more vigorous and vile language) 3. If you are sick and have legitimate documentation from a doctor for Sick Leave, you will still be investigated and become threatened by management that they CAN do sudden home visits without unwarranted visits. As well as threaten your job completely with disciplinaries or instant dismissal. Not only that your hours DO become slashed/lowered as a punishment for being sick 4. Customers ARE ALLOWED to treat you with as much disrespect as they like. This includes vile language, having things thrown at you, threatened. When complain/ask for advice from your management they will do nothing to help you the employee. Instead they give and advice the customer on how to word and write out their Complaint Form... 5. You are NEVER EVER praised or shown even the slightest piece of gratitude Overall: If you want to be treated like a piece of cattle, become used and abused by your colleagues and management, have you opinion literally thrown in the bin, and have your life sucked out of you, then this is the place to work...

Pros

Above average pay, but that's because you do the work of multiple people. I enjoy that intensity. This job is not for everyone, it's not a typical grocery store operation and the public seems to think we get to "sit in the chair", that is probably the number one misconception about any position at Aldi. If you're not a fast moving multi tasking master of all, do not come to Aldi, you'll just drag the rest of us down trying to pick up your slack.

Cons

Nearly impossible to be promoted any higher than shift manager. If you're looking for advancement opportunity, keep moving.

Pros

It will be hard to find more responsibility coming out of college. They pay and benefits speak for themselves, but the work is rewarding. It is not for the faint of heart, but they let us know that from the start. You will not learn by sitting on the sidelines, they will throw you into the action. You will be engaged from day one and expected to contribute, which is refreshing. They attempt to hire the best, and will hold you to that standard.

Cons

Hours, work-life, and stress. This is more so at the beginning, but you will be working some hours in this position. Like I stated above, they attempt to hire the best, and hold you to that standard. They will push you for results, and if you are not returning them then you will have discussions with upper management. Again, this is only a con if you make it; most who work hard will get over this hump and enjoy successful careers and move up within the company. They tell you upfront about all of the negatives and I have not felt deceived yet. Be honest and work hard and everything else works out.
