Pros

It's a good Company to start with although training is minimal. If you can survive at AIG you can work anywhere. The workload is strenuous, but repetition translates into knowledge and experience.

Cons

It's too large. It's so large it's like working for a large branch of government. Management won't pay you unless you've been with the Company for 15+ years. If you are originally from NY don't plan on working at home office.

Pros

AIG is a huge company and the possibility for growth is huge IF you have a manager or a leader that is well respected within the company. There are so many places to go that if you choose to leave the company, you leave because you do not like AIG, not becasue there was nowhere for you to go to further your career.

Cons

Company is HUGE so it is easy to get lost if you don't stand out and you can't stand out if your managers don't give you the right tools, so its a bit of a catch 22. You need to be very vocal and demonstrative in what you do so you will be known for it later on down the road. And don't let others take credit for your hard work.. make it known!

Pros

AIG, being one the largest companies in the world, does provide job security and I believe their salaries are very comparable or at least competitve to other insurance companies. The management style is not as micro managed as other companies I am aware of yet they are guilty of it, as many companies are.

Cons

AIG has a tendency to implement work policies without consulting those which the policies greatly effect. It would be encouraging if our input was sought after. We are the ones that must implement these policies and our morale may increase knowing we had a part in the changes. As such, employee morale does not appear to be a high priority and more company sponsored events or/and or awards would be appreciated. At this time, and it may change, advancement is not available nor a near future possibility.
