Pros

There are probably certain sections within in AIG were the management are knowledgeable and treat there employees right. You do get to work on a variety of accounts exposing you to all different industries.

Cons

They blame the uw for everything when it is a soft market and we can not meet the goals because the pricing is so low. They do not want us to go low on the pricing but get mad when we are not writing enough business. We work within their rules yet at the end of the day they beat us up instead of changing how they do business. Quite a few managers need management training and also should have knowledge in the business. They promote friends or people who were poor managers to move them to another department.

Pros

Good exposure to the industry - you are working for one of the most dominate insurance companies in the world.

Cons

Company is far to large and disorganized. Technology is horrible and operations are highly inefficient. Company has been running scared since Spitzer investigation and has been overrun by compliance officers and auditors. Outside of the current AIG events - the level of "compliance" is destroying the company from the inside out.

Pros

The company has good compensation and benefits.

Cons

Little recognition for achievements. Management promotes their friends, with little chance of advancement for the people that are really the most qualified. Some people are allowed to slack off while others are held to follow every company rule. Ridiculous audit system with ever changing rules that prevents any one from being able to obtain a high score.
