Rewarding at first - frustrating at the end.

Pros

Good pay - great co-workers. Paperless claims system & working on deploying a work at home program for nearly all workers.

Cons

Inconsistent management & rules. Currently understaffed for work volume, but continually releasing employees from all units increasing the workload of the ones remaining. It was a rewarding / fun environment until 2008 when everything changed even though the US Insurance programs had nothing to do with the Credit Default Swap issues that nearly toppled the company.

AIG is a decent place to work but not a place to get stuck at.

Pros

Friendly people, nice office space/cubicle. The location in Houston try to motivate employees by having contest, giveaways and food ect.

Cons

Pay is low. It is hard to move around and there is no clear structure for you to follow if you want to move up. They pay outside employees more than the loyal employees that have been with the company for year. There are people that have been with the company for 15 plus years still doing case coordination (data entry/customer service) making less then 38K . They have been talking years about starting a cross training program which has yet to go into affect
