Tell me about a time you had to make a difficult/unpopular decision.
The questions were negative and had nothing to do with leadership, such as “tell me about a time you failed or did not meet expectations” and “tell me about a time when you made a recommendation that wasn’t accepted.” The whole experience felt awful and unproductive, deviating significantly from the format of previous interviews focused on leadership skills. It came across as a binary, transactional conversation aimed at probing for information rather than a genuine assessment of my capabilities. This approach left a very negative impression of the company.
