There wasn’t any technical questions and so I spent most of the time walking through UX processes and speaking to the design mocks in Figma. Also shared high level solutions for their current pain points internally with branding and refactoring legacy designs that developers weren’t managing properly due to no design resources over the past few years.
Design challenge: I was asked to “reimagined” fix their search function. This deeply saddened me, I was super excited about what the company was doing. I did just the visual element and wanted to walk through the other parts in office. I am not a proponent of free work, and I think we as a design community should push back. Give option that are not product related and pay them. Show your invested in them and you respect their time.
