So hiring manager asked me to draw my previous circuit designs out on paper by memory and COMPLETELY EXPLAIN it. I was able to explain parts of it and how I came up with certain requirements but I wasn't able to explain everything. For starters I couldn't even completely remember my design topologies from the previous job which of course destroyed me from the get-go. I left a poor impression, he was friendly to me somewhat, it wasn't like he beat me up but I could tell he was very unimpressed. I'm not really sure if he would have thought I was smarter if I could have drawn all my designs out from memory, but it wouldn't have hurt to have been able to drawn everything out first correctly and then get to all his analysis questions! At the end of the interview he said "don't feel bad" and then I said something to the effect of "why shouldn't I feel bad?" and then he said "You're right you should feel bad" I'm not sure really what to make of that. But he did encourage me to use this interview as a learning experience. He wasn't cruel, but definitely made me feel a bit stupid (and rightly so?). Was my first interview ever where people asked me circuit design questions to begin with.
