After the preliminary introduction, we proceeded with a few interview questions. They were mainly based on getting to know more about me, my interests, my past work and my educational experiences. I had ample time to discuss and explain my points–in a very calm and open manner. We then proceeded to more of the technical facets of the job. They asked me a variety of questions about my writing skills, administrative skills, social skills, and all other technical skills I would require to complete my day-to-day tasks. All the questions revolved mainly around what was in the initial job description. There were a few questions also about personality, for example, what are my strengths and weakness, to better gauge what I bring to the table. I also was asked some questions about the future I may see with the company moving forward and what my dreams and aspirations are for the future. Overall, all the questions were very telling that they were interested in me not only as an employee but as someone who can bring a fresh perspective to the job and company. After the question period, they asked if I would like to ask them some questions. I asked how they would describe their role at Genetec from an outsider's perspective. What do they love about working at the company? And what they see for themselves in the future. and what my day-to-day tasks would look like, if I were to be hired. We ended the conversation in a polite and friendly manner, my takeaway from the interview process is that they were very thorough but they kept the discussion open, light and friendly which aided me to stay focused and not nervous. I appreciated that they took the time to introduce themselves and also ask me to do the same. I felt like they truly enjoyed and wanted to get to know me as a person, as well as a future colleague.
I was asked to talk about my professional experience and how I would apply my skills to the job.
