When have you ever had to sale something?
Define what a stock, bond, money market fund and ETF is respectively.
The mock phone call is awkward. You have to pretend the interviewer is a client. Its not a very good interview tool, especially when you consider a lot of the best customer service representatives utilize emotional ques to respond to clients(something that is not easily 'faked' for me). The fact that the interviewer seemed completely dis-interested in my earlier responses made the situation even more awkward for me. You also do not know exactly how the company would approve/disapprove of going above and beyond for the client, what the procedures would be, or how that particular interviewer feels is most important(sympathy with client vs. resolving the situation quickly and easily). All of those factors aren't things that actually help in a client situation because you want to work towards the specific client, not the company line.
What is a stock, bond, mutual fund, index fund? Do you follow financial news (Morningstar, CNN, WSJ) and was there something you read recently that was interesting?
Can you tell me about a time where you had to deal with angry client? if so, what did you do to calm the client and resolve the issue.
Name a situation in which you had to overcome difficulties in the work place
Know the different types of securities- ETF's, Mutual Funds, Equity securities (Stocks), Bonds (muni's), Money Markets. Describe to me how you would deal with conflict. Would you be able to deal with loud talking and constant office distraction (their will always be people on phones). Tell me 3 strengths (why are these strengths?) Tell me about a time when you had to deal with a difficult client/customer. How did you handle it? What was the outcome?
