I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Waitrose (Bracknell, England) in Dec 2014
Interview
Assessment day:
Role play where I was a manager dealing with a difficult member of staff, Interviews, Presentations.
Was an enjoyable atmosphere. KInd people and good food. Got the impression that they are bit overly obsessed with their culture. Love the fact that it s a partnership. Clearly a good culture in the office as well- lots of people from store applying for grad schemes.

Question 1
How do you balance your work/life responsibilities?
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Waitrose in Feb 2015
Interview
-Online: Filled in application form. Took a while, especially including the online tests. I've heard other people on here complaining how difficult they were. I have to say, compared to other companies online, Waitrose's online tests were quite easy. There aren't exactly a right or wrong answer on one- it mainly tests your way of thinking. I think there were 2 tests overall. I submitted the application after this.
-Phone: Received a phone call 1 day later. Very short notice but they need someone very quickly.
-Group Interview: Interview was split in two. The first interview was the group interview, although some people had had their 1:1 interview before this, so we were all not waiting around after. The group interview consisted of 6 of us, sitting around a large table, and a white-board. We had 5 minutes to all read our sheets (they were all different), and select the worst issues past customers had dealt with. I found it best to go around, all say our 3 worst issues, and then all discuss as to which are the top 3. You have to speak up here and listen to others. I had members of the team literally reading out the whole question sheet and wasting some of our 20 minute discussion time. I claimed that Health and Safety always comes first, so that would have to be our number 1, no matter what. I assume that your options will be different though.
-1:1 Interview. Was taken to a small room where I was asked 4 questions about myself, and 2 technical questions. I'll put these below.
-Result- Due to the desperate need to hire a replacement very quickly, we only had to wait a day before being told the result. I got hired and was able to request two contracts (a week day one, and a weekend one).
-This website helped a lot- so take your time and note down all the questions that keep coming up! You'll have less of a surprise on the day!
