I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Uber (New York, NY)
Interview
Recruiter screen:
Recruiter was nearly 10 mins late with no email or warning, but he was very friendly and made me feel comfortable. He told me the HM saw my resume and wanted to move me to the next round. He said it would include a case study with the hiring manager.
Hiring manager interview:
I researched typical case studies at Uber, practiced 40+ examples, and spoke to two friends (referrals) about the team's roadmap. In the interview I dove into the STAR framework; interviewer cut me off after 5 mins and told me he could tell that I've done a lot of big tech interviews but all he was looking for was a list of product integrations - no solutioning necessary. He didn't give me the opportunity to readjust, he just said the role was too technical for me but that he thinks I'd be a great fit for Uber, but perhaps in a more strategic role. He said he'd mark me as 'approved for future interviews' and would let the recruiter know in case there are other opportunities. Despite the end result I actually really enjoyed the interview and admired him for his feedback and transparency, and how he handled the situation.
I followed up with thank yous to both the HM and recruiter, and told the recruiter about the HM's feedback. He said he was excited to look into other opportunities for me and that he would give me a call the following week to go over roles he thought would be a strong match - I thanked him. The following week I heard nothing so I sent a follow up email with a new version of my resume, adjusted for strategic roles. Ghosted. Another week went by and I followed up - ghosted again. Then I got a generic email saying they would love to stay in touch but that the interview process was now closed and they've gone with a different candidate.
Again, I had two referrals. So I took the interviewer's advice anyway and applied to other roles that he suggested would be a stronger fit. One of the app statuses changed to 'interview eligible' but I heard nothing. I kept getting emails asking me for feedback on my interview process, so I gave them my honest (but professional) feedback, and then the role I was 'interview eligible' for switched to rejected. The others were almost immediately rejected.
Worst part? Zero transparency or feedback; I have no idea what happened or went wrong, and I have no idea where I stand within the internal ratings system. I spent so much time preparing for the interview and learning about the company - even going so far as to log a historical record of all of their GO-GET product releases to adjust my interview according to their strategic decisions. I'm not an idiot, but I was made to feel like one. Not a good experience at all.

Question 1
What suite of products would we need to build to seamlessly allow merchants to upload their catalogs to Uber Eats?
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Uber (New York, NY) in Apr 2026
Interview
The interview process begins with an initial recruiter call to assess your background, experience, and general fit for the role. This is followed by a 60-minute conversation with the hiring manager, which typically dives deeper into your skills, past work, and alignment with the team’s goals.
If you progress, the final stage is an onsite interview consisting of multiple rounds with different team members, where you’ll be evaluated across technical and behavioral dimensions. Notably, the process has recently changed so that the Jam session—often a collaborative, hands-on exercise—is now conducted during the onsite rather than earlier in the process.

Interview
