The hiring process at US Air Force takes an average of 30 days when considering 1 user submitted interviews across all job titles. Candidates applying for Mecanicien had the quickest hiring process (on average 30 days), whereas Mecanicien roles had the slowest hiring process (on average 30 days).
Internal Candidate, so very simple process - include resume and last reviews, sometimes hold virtual interview but mostly contact last boss for gut check. Background checks if needed and discussions with first and second level supervisors not necessary.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at US Air Force (Yigo, GU) in Jan 2020
Interview
It was really fast, they labelled all benefits. My recruiter told me what I was getting into, the process was very smooth. I left for training soon after. Would not do again.
I applied in-person. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at US Air Force (Ramstein-Miesenbach) in Apr 2020
Interview
I was hired through the old process, but now there is a panel, psych test and some other pre-submission requirements. Remember when you interview, be honest. The First Sergeants I have met who were not happy were those who did it for promotion, who thought they could change "the Air Force" or those who had a chip on their shoulder. Its HEAVY people involved, and if you aren't a people person, the job really is difficult to do.
