      Research Analyst Interview

      Mar 30, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Third Bridge (New York, NY) in Mar 2016

      Interview

After submitting an application online, a recruiter called me up the next day to discuss the interview process via phone. Recruiter gave a very thorough explanation of the role and gave me sample questions during the phone interview. However, the amount of preparation required for the interview was overwhelming, as he contacted me three times (and these were very lengthy calls) to prepare for the interviews. I did not feel it was necessary to go through so much prep for the in-person interview. After passing the phone interview, I was selected to go to the Super Day in their NYC office shortly afterwards. The office was very nice. Very young, social and lively. They have an open office layout which encourages interaction. Candidates were grouped together in a room for 15 minutes for a brief presentation of the company, before separating into different rooms with interviews. I had one interview for an hour with two interviews, complete with a case study, followed by another hour-long interview with two more interviews. The case study was fun and quite informative, but it took me a while to get the answers they want and they seemed frustrated with how long it took me to get the answers they wanted. The second round interview was mainly about my knowledge of the company and my activities. They kept grilling me on the competency-based questions until they got the answers they wanted. However, much to my disappointed, there is little research involved. This role turned out to be nothing more than a glorified cold-calling position. You would be calling industry experts and linking them up with their clients for investment decisions. and they have "targets" to reach, very much like sales roles. I got the call the next day that I did not get the job. Good for me. If you want to work in a glorified sales role, then this role is for you.

      Interview

Dont let them trick you into thinking this is an actual research position. You will be cold calling people most of your day. The interview process is relatively simple, first spoke with a recruiter who passed me onto an in-person round. I never heard from them after that.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Given this case industry, what types of industry experts would you contact on behalf of a client who is looking to invest in a company within that sector.

      Interview

Had an interview for Forum role in Hongkong. Straightforward interview. The recruiter was very pleasant and nice, she was very professional. Prepare for your understanding of the role, although she was very nice in explaining the role in details, you knew it’s a major concern if you have no idea about the position youre applying. She also provides transparent feedback which I really appreciates. Not all companies or recruiters do the same. I always see this recruiter in job fairs and she’s overall nice and very accommodating. I would recommend trying an interview as it will change your perspective about the company and the role.
