I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at The Home Depot in Jan 2011
Interview
I was called by the HR dept and given a basic phone interview. Interviewer was cheery, interested and helpful. I had an advantage in getting the interview since I had been a vendor's rep in the store (underpaid but easy to get job) and many employees remembered me and how successful and helpful I was overall. So I called that Asst mgr to say Hi and tell him I had applied and he looked me up on the list and gave me an interview.

Question 1
How would I handle a customer on the floor on my first day?
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Delray Beach, FL) in Jul 2010
Interview
They called me and asked me about 5 questions over the phone. The call was from corporate. I was also interviewed by one of my managers for the position and they ask a few questions and then you do a scenario with your manager. The scenario was you are a sales associate and your manger is the customer. The customer came in the other day and could not find any help, so he is now in the store for the second time. He is a little frustrated about the help he is not finding. He needs help building a dog house and you have to sell him everything he needs. I said screws instead of nails because then you can sell him a drill too. Then of course the wood and everything else. In a nutshell they want to see that you can sell the whole project and not just one item and satisfy the customer.

Question 1
Describe a time when a customer needed help and you were busy with another customer?
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Memphis, TN) in Dec 2009
Interview
One on one interview. Seemed like a great work environment but figured out real quick that its all about being one of management's favorites or in their THE CLICK and if you're not included you might as well look for another opportunity elsewhere, because you'll get looked over numerous times for advancement. They're extremely hard to please.

Question 1
All questions like what did you do when this happened and describe a time when.......well it's difficult to remember when these things have happened because you're nervous but they say there aren't any wrong answers. Truth be told you're graded by your answers. Doesn't seem fair!
