Tesco Customer Assistant - Checkouts interview questions

I applied for a job at Tesco on the 23rd August, and had an interview with them on the 5th September. They were friendly and encouraging, and I was very nervous which I think counted against me despite keeping a smile on my face and using good eye contact. The interview consisted of filling out a form, then 5 questions (they can ask you 5 out of a possible 10 which are all online on this site which is good if you like to prepare!) - then there was a work sample in which I stood by a checkout and helped pack, smiled and greeted customers, etc. This sample lasted about ten minutes, and the whole process was only 40 minutes long. Make sure you bring your ID, National Insurance number, and a pen. I was told that I would get an email if I'd gotten the job by no later than next Tuesday (which is today), and my application was ultimately unsuccessful.

I applied online by submitting my Cv and then answering a number of questions online. I was then given a call about a week later asking me to come in for an interview. I was asked about 5 "when have you" situation questions and then taken on the shop floor for about 20 minutes to show my customer skills. I was told I would hear back at the end of August but got a phone call about 2 weeks after my interview offering me the job and asking me to come in for an induction day.
