I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Riot Games (Los Angeles, CA) in Aug 2015
Interview
Applied. Had an online HackerRank coding test with a custom-made League problem that was pretty fun. Standard algorithms/DS knowledge. Passed all the test cases, next day I was contacted to set up a Skype/Hangouts interview. Was mainly just about my interests and whatnot - passed this. Invited to another Hangouts interview, but this one was very technical. More basic DS/Algorithms and some basic Distributed Systems questions. After this, was invited onsite for a day full of about 6 interviews - 2 or 3-on-one, and a mixture of HR/behavioral and technical questions. I also had to make a presentation for my interviewers in advance, on a topic of my choice. Got put up in a very nice hotel and got a tour of the Riot Games HQ which is awesome, had a lot of fun while there. All of my interviewers were extremely professional and the process was very fast, about 2 months total (which is less than average there). Accepted an offer a few weeks later.

Interview
A recruiter contacted me on a Weekend, which is fine for me personally. However I think this is a good way to show that work/life balance can be tough for some people at Riot. Which many have already commented on.
Overall I had 2 reciter calls, 1 manager call, and 1 technical interview. What really annoyed me is after the interview they waited a full 3 weeks before giving any feedback after my last interview. Even though I had told them I had another company bringing me onsite and eventually gave me an offer.
I get the impression that riot engineers have the apple/google stigma. Thinking that they're the best engineers in the world and because of that, they get to treat everyone else poorly. I'd give warning to anyone interviewing at riot to be completely aware of the silicon snob effect is alive and well in Riot.

Interview
Heard back about their interest in an interview quite a while after applying. I had two phone screens (both technical), an all-day on-site interview with several people (including airfare, hotel, and meals), and a final phone screen with management. Most of the interview communication was done through the same in-house recruiter. Communication throughout the process was high-quality and frequent.
