I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Riot Games in Jan 2012
Interview
I had to complete a problem solving skills test. I didn't finish it because there were ~100 questions and I completed ~80 of them. The questions were either find the next number in the pattern or find the synonym. I got a response a few days later saying I passed and would get a phone interview. I got asked about myself and a few of those logic puzzles. Few days later I had another phone interview and was pretty similar. However, this interviewer seemed as if he was just reading off of a list of questions which was a bit unsettling. Not sure what went wrong.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Riot Games (Santa Monica, CA) in Apr 2015
Interview
I had a phone interview with a recruiter, which was casual and very informative. The recruiters for Riot are awesome and have great advice for the department interviews. This interview was about 50 minutes long.
A week later... along came phone interview 2. This was also a great experience. The first two gentlemen I spoke with were laid back and asked thoughtful questions about my previous experience. The interview was about 40 minutes long.
Phone interview 3 came about a week later. This was with two different members of the QA department. These gentlemen were not laid back and this was a fairly brutal experience. It could be that Riot QA does their two phone interviews as a "good cop - bad cop" thing, so maybe this was the "bad cop" half. Unfortunately, it bordered on unprofessional. They did a weird snort/laugh at an answer I gave in earnest. They mocked another answer in a very "what a noob" way. There was a point where they laughed among themselves about something unrelated to my interview. Needless to say, after this interview, I had to second-guess my decision to apply at Riot.
A week after the third phone interview, I received an email that they were going to pass. I wasn't surprised at all.
Overall, the experience was mostly good. Two of the three interviews were really great. That third interview will definitely stick out in my mind as one of the worst I've had though.
Applied online through their website. Got declined about two weeks later, without getting an interview. However, it was a long shot due to my lack of experience so not very surprising. I probably lacked evidence that I would be a good candidate in my cover letter since I went fairly far into how I would fit in rather than why I should even be considered in the first place.
