I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Pfizer (New York, NY) in Sep 2019
Interview
It was unbelievably bad. Pfizer isn't the same company as it was before. They called me in and did not have interview room booked. I kept walking around while she finds a free room. I travelled from philadelphia to NYC for this interview. Then she found a room and left, came back and said first interviewer is missing and will only speak to you over phone.
Spoke with him and a couple of other guys. Hiring manager was missing for 2 hours. When he showed up, I asked if he wants to spend some time talking with me and he said that is not needed...my head started spinning and I knew that they already have someone in mind.
I stil kept playing since I love the company. I left the place and came back to Philadepphia and did not hear for 3 weeks, then I followed up and they said we want you to come back and present on a case study.
Interview setup this time was an interview with VP and then presentation. So, I prepare for an entire weekend and travel back to NYC.
I reach their and they station me in a conference room and everyone disappears, I come close to time for interview with VP and there is no one around. Sent an email to hiring manager and no response. So I go out and find the admin, who goes and talks to VP and comes back and says that actually VP will not speak with you...there will only be a presentation :)
I give the presentation and leave the place. They told me that they will make a decision in 2 days.
Again did not hear for two weeks so I sent a very nice email to hiring manager asking if they have made a decision and if there is any feedback for me.
2 days pass by and hiring manager did not even bother to respond to back to my email. he decided to go to workday and send me an automated email. No communication from HR either.
This is when you are hiring for a director role.
They did everything they could to send a message that we have a horrible culture, we do not care about talent and we have no value for your time.....
Would love to see how they stay competitive in this world where talent attraction is a must for winning in the business.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me one question that you hope I would not ask you...
I applied through other source. I interviewed at Pfizer in Jul 2015
Interview
Interviewed with a headhunting firm (this was a retained search), then a full day of interviewing onsite.
The interview was very strange and it didn't feel like an actual interview. More like the host was going through the motions.
It began with a one hour presentation (45 min. with 15 min. for questions). The projection system did not work properly so about 10 min. was wasted while waiting for the IT department to fix it.
The host walked in late to the presentation, sat in the back, and did not come up afterwards to introduce himself.
The remainder of the day consisted of individual interviews, some with two people present, due to the number of people that they apparently needed to fit in.
Everyone had a 4 page packet with them that they used for asking questions and for writing down my answers. The questions were mostly straightforward, but there were a few ones like "If you could be any animal you wanted to be, which would you choose, and why?"
There were also some questions that didn't appear to apply to the job at all and when I asked questions to clarify, I got the response "please, please, please just give us something to put in this box!!"
I very much got the impression that someone (either HR or more likely the host/hiring manager) was putting a lot of pressure on the interviewers to fill in every square inch of space in every response box on the forms.
The interview felt very political and in the end, did not receive an offer. I found out who did eventually get the offer and it was someone with a history of job hopping, In this specific case, I knew someone who used to work with the individual who got the job and we agreed there appeared to be some kind of "old boys club" thing going on. The environment is mostly male and the person who got the job was male.
Even though I came in through a headhunter doing a retained search, it never felt like a real interview,. I think I was being brought in because they had to make it look like they were trying to hire women, when in fact they weren't really interested in doing so.
I ended up getting a Director level position elsewhere.
Since then I've stopped using Pfizer products because the interview experience was so bad.

Interview
For this interview there was a table at which all of the interviewers sat and they proceeded to ask a series of questions that were focused on gaining a better understanding regarding the relevance of past work experience and how it would be applied to the role.
