I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at OkCupid
Interview
Recruiter was (is) extremely kind and communicative. I feel like I got a good feel for the company values from talking with him and the other interviewers. They made sure I had all my questions answered and that has continued into my onboarding.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They sent me a folder of some of their old code to develop against.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at OkCupid (New York, NY) in Dec 2019
Interview
Recruiter reached out directly then had a phone interview with recruiter before interviewing with the team manager. My one hour video interview turned into two hours. I thought it went well since the interview went on after our scheduled time but it's been several weeks and they completely ghosted me. No email, no follow up, nothing. Feels like a complete waste of my time -- especially for a contract role with no benefits.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at OkCupid (New York, NY) in Sep 2019
Interview
The interview process was broken up into three stages. The first stage was a phone interview which was focused on getting to know me, my job history, and answering some basic technical questions. The second stage was a coding challenge, and the third stage was an onsite interview. The onsite interview consisted of a technical segment, a product segment, and an interview with the CTO (and free lunch 🙂). Following the final stage, I was extended an offer and did accept. Looking back, I was very happy with the conversations I had with my to-be Engineering Manager during each stage of the interview process. Based on his feedback about the company, the culture, his general enthusiasm for iOS development, and the various company perks, it seemed like a very good fit.
Interview questions [3]
Question 1
During my onsite technical segment, I was asked to expand on my coding challenge by implementing additional functionality. The engineering manager for the iOS team and the Android team were there to explain the requirements and answer any questions I had along the way.
During my onsite product segment, I was asked various questions about workflow and cross team communication, as well as talking through scenarios that required giving feedback about the OkCupid app and/or feature being discussed/developed.
During my onsite final interview with the CTO, he reviewed my resume and asked me various questions about my job history, career goals, expectations, etc.
