I was surprised to receive a generic rejection email as a finalist candidate after all the rounds had been finalised. At that stage, one would expect a recruiter to call and personally deliver the news and feedback. Compare this to a process with a different company that I was having in parallel where recruiter called to check in after each step - that helped build a relationship with the company regardless of the outcome. The MMC approach feels dismissive, builds a negative impression of the company culture, and closes the door for future opportunities.
