I applied for an open Learning and Development Coordinator position and heard back from a Senior Recruiter about setting up an interview, not with her, but someone else at the company. What was supposed to be an 'interview' was not actually an interview. I was called by someone in a foreign country (I have lived in multiple countries so I am not biased but the person's behavior was unacceptable). The so called interviewer had a crying baby next to the phone, she also has a window open with loud traffic and honking. On top of that she had a thick accent, so with the noise and her inability to speak clearly, I had to ask her to repeat what she was saying multiple times. She kept asking me questions for some 'form' she was supposed to fill out. After the first few questions I mentioned that the questions she was asking me were all on my resume. I asked her point blank if she had a copy of my resume. She tried to get out of answering, but finally she said, "she had it, but had NOT read it." Really? I spent time prepared for this so called interview, and she she did not. Nor did she apologize for her unprofessional work environment. Due to her poor English skills at one point she was writing down the complete opposite of what my answer had been and I had to repeat 3x to get her to correct it. I tried to ask one straightforward question about the job and she could not even answer that. An interview should be a 2 way street! I am a professional and it was truly insulting to waste my time so this flunkey could fill out some stupid form that frankly could have been emailed to me and I could have filled it out. This company should fire this person for the really poor impression she made of their company and for this resulting review I am writing because of it. I wish I had simply hung up in the first 5 minutes, but unlike this person and company, I am a professional. I know this person knew I was not impressed by what happened and I suspect she wrote a bunch of garbage so despite my excellent qualifications I was not contacted for next steps. Not that I would have continued, but I mention this so when the company reads this they will know this employee was at best incompetent and at worst lied to cover her butt.
