The hiring process lasts usually a day or two. They conducted an aptitude test consisting of Quant and English questions, which was not so tough, but not that easy either.
The candidates shortlisted after the test were called in for an interview, which could be a technical or an HR interview or both as well. In the technical interview, they usually ask questions about your projects, the difficulties you faced in it, and maybe a few basic questions on data structures, SDLC models etc.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How did you solve the problems you faced in your project?
I applied through college or university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Infosys (Coimbatore) in Sep 2013
Interview
The first round was an online test that had both quantitative and verbal aptitude questions. The verbal aptitude questions might be tough, but however a little preparation will be enough to clear this round.
There was no group discussion.
The second round was a technical HR round, where a few questions will be asked based on the resume like hobbies, interests etc.
The technical questions will be from the branch of study.
For computer science and IT students, questions were from Programming, Data Structures etc. They were also asked to write programs.
Electrical engineering and Electronics & Comm engineering students were asked about microprocessor programming, signal transmission etc.
Mechatronics students were asked about Arduino microcontroller and its programming.
Mechanical Engineering students were asked questions based on their field of interests and their projects.
As a mechanical engineer, I was asked about my project, which I explained in detail with a quick drawing. The interviewer being a CS graduate seemed a little bored when I explained this to him. However I remained confident and did not stop.
When I had finished explaining, he asked me I am so interested in my mechanical project, then why am I coming to IT? I simply replied with my history with computers as I am accustomed with computers ever since I was a child. I also have interest in programming which I started learning by myself when I was 11 years old.
He then asked how was I so passionate about my project and mechanical engineering.
I replied that, I am good learner and I'll be good at whatever I do. The project is something that is mandatory and I would do it even if I am in another field of study like Textile or BioTech etc.
Hearing this he became so happy and commented the following words. " I am so happy to see such a candidate after a long time ".
Saying that, he told that I can leave and after a few minutes, I was told that I was selected without needing the general HR interview.
The general interview was conducted for a few students who were put on hold during the Technical HR interview.
