The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot in Apr 2016
Interview
Networked the place back to Boston, spent about a week studying their materials, blogs, PowerPoints, etc and passed the certification. Wow man killing this you're thinking? Then I went and Got myself referred. This brother's got HEART. Then some recruiter fem gobs me off and says screened out. Very arbitrary, if you ask me.

Interview
I started the Interview Process for Hubspot through an InMail that I received from an internal recruiter; the whole process took a little over a month. Hubspot had always been a target company for me based on its widely renowned Culture Code, so I was thrilled with the timing of her inquiry and the position she contacted me to discuss. After a brief phone conversation, I continued through the process which consisted of an in-person interview, a role play over the phone, and a larger in-person with the team. I worked through Christiaan, who is just simply the best. Not only is she a phenomenal gauge of culture fit, but she provides an incredible amount of encouragement and guidance throughout the process. While it was lengthy, interviewing at Hubspot is worth it, because they are so dedicated to finding the right mutual fit. They truly care that you are not only the right person for the company/team, but that the role and company are right for YOU as well. For me, a company that is truly authentic in caring from the very beginning about my growth and development is a place I want to work and I could not have been more thrilled to accept the offer.
Huge congrats, and welcome to the team! I'm delighted to hear that our recruiting team identified you as a star and reached out, and would love your input on how we can proactively engage folks like you who had HubSpot on their target lists as a result of our culture before applying. Most importantly, we are delighted you chose HubSpot, can't wait to welcome you formally to the team! -Katie Burke
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at HubSpot
Interview
I had a very negative experience interviewing at HubSpot. I was very surprised to have such negative reviews because I have several friends that work at Hubspot and speak very highly of the inclusive and compassionate culture.
Perhaps it was the time that I was applying, but I felt that the interview process was incredibly rushed and impersonal. As another reviewer recounts, I expect that the recruiter had upwards of 30 interviews in one day. Because of this, it was very clear that both people I met with were just merely going through the motions, rather than taking the time to carefully qualify all of the candidates. Having taken time off from work and put a lot of time and energy into preparation, I was irked to be hasted through my interview. I was asked to participate in the next round of interviews but I knew it was not going to be the right fit.
To compound my frustration, the recruiter even went so far as to refer to me as “his pipeline.” As someone in sales, I understand that pipeline is a term that is used for internal purposes. However, I felt that it was a very dehumanizing way to refer to a candidate, making me feel more like a number than a person. My interview experience very much contradicted the transparent, genuine culture that my friends had prepared me to expect.

Question 1
How would you conduct your first call with a new customer?
Sorry to hear we let you down here--we take great pride in having a human element to our candidate, employee, and alumni experience, so the last thing we want to do is make the process feel impersonal. If you're comfortable sharing more detail, would love for you to send me an email directly so I can help address it--thanks for sharing your feedback with us.
