      Customer Success Manager Interview

      Aug 27, 2020
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Lexington-Fayette, KY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at HubSpot (Lexington-Fayette, KY) in Aug 2020

      Interview

Applied through a referral and was contacted by the recruiter the next day stating I would not be moving forward via email. I had not yet even talked with the recruiter. I emailed back asking the recruiter for any feedback as to what they might be looking for in this role and never heard back. This is now the second time this has happened. The first time I actually had the opportunity to talk with the recruiter, so that is even worse in my opinion. I would expect a bit more out of a company that touts Transparency as one of their core values. I also believe they say they want to look for culture add, but all they seem to be looking for is skill set in a certain age bracket. It may seem like they want diversity, but if you look at most of their employees, they are all 20 somethings straight out of college or just beginning their careers. This would be ok if they also looked at individuals who have been established and are a bit older in age and have a wide range of skill sets. Skills can be taught, life experiences are what make great EQ and great culture add. If you look at the report they published their demographic really screws to the younger, white generation. I understand they say they are working to make this better, but from my experience it does not feel that way. It also seems as if the referrals from their own teammates mean nothing. I would think that if a current employee refers someone, you would at least want to talk to that person. Sadly that is not the case. I guess they don’t even trust their own team members to refer quality people. This has been my experience so far through multiple interviews and talking with others.

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to write a review, and I'm sorry we let you down in your process. We always have a high number of applications for our roles, and referrals in particular have skyrocketed given the events of the past several months. While historically it hasn't been possible for us to follow up individually with every single referral, we've recently rolled out some changes to our processes internally that should remedy that. We are incredibly proud of the progress we've made on gender diversity but, like many tech companies, we have work to do on both ethnic and age diversity and are holding ourselves openly accountable through our annual Diversity Report that you referenced (https://www.hubspot.com/hubfs/2020DiversityReport.pdf). I truly appreciate your feedback and push to be better, and hope we can continue to make progress on the work we're already doing. Best, Becky
