I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot (Cambridge, MA) in Dec 2018
Interview
The interview process consists of 5 steps: 1) recruiter phone call 2) hiring manager phone call 3) role play sales pitch/discovery call 4) in person interview meeting with four hiring managers (2:1) 5) final call with VP of sales.
I felt challenged throughout the interview process but also really appreciated the quick feedback and communication throughout. After almost each round, I heard if I was moving forward the same day/evening or the next day. This speed is invaluable in today's job climate and was much appreciated to not keep me on edge. I enjoyed working with the team throughout and appreciate the transparency/coaching they bring to the table.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
1) Imagine you get the job and once you start, you aren't doing well or hitting your numbers, what do you do?
2) Tell me about a time when you pushed to go from good to great
3) What is your relationship with your manager?
Very structured. Recruiter will tell you exactly what the next round is about and what they are looking for.
Interview was extremely structured and seems like interviewer follow script when they ask questions lol
Phone Screen with Recruiter (off-camera)
Interview with Manager (mock disco)
Interview with another Manager (mock solution presentation)
Interview with your Sales Director (pretty easy, be human, we talked about fishing)
The two managers you get can make or break you getting in as some are tougher than others.
Multiple meetings and material to review for your interview stages. Be prepared to take 5 hours out of your work day to join the interview prep calls and meetings. Total time dedicated to interviews and preparation time roughly 10 hours.
