I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at GE in Mar 2012
Interview
Online Application with some basic answers normal to most applications.
Received confirmation of application.
2 months later, I received an initial phone call interview to discuss my status.
Then a proper phone interview was arranged which involved my knowledge of manufacturing, operations and supply chain concepts.
Also my knowledge and awareness on quality tools.
I was asked to give some examples.
Then i had an assessment day which included a group interview, a prepared presentation that i had sent a week before hand with a large panel, i think about 6-8 who then asked questions, some very tough questions.
Finally 2 interviews, competency based and also very much interested in what type of personality you have.in each there was 2 or 3 people, HR, as well as on/off program individuals.

Interview
The program recruits through universities. Individuals must "pass" the pre-screening interview in order to make it to the final interview stage. The company conducted a night before interview reception where all questions could be answered and more information about the program was provided.
The overall interview consisted of five (5) 1:1 interviews with the program coordinator, assignment leaders, plant managers, and other GE employees. Each interview was behavioral based, with the intent of finding out your leadership skills and ability to fit in with the competition. Know your resume, more than one leadership experience, internship experience, and strengths and weaknesses.
All interviewers were very friendly and open to any questions. It was made clear that GE employees do not work the typical 40 hrs/week. Some current program members noted that they often work Saturdays and even multiple shifts.
