I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at FDM Group (Londres, Angleterre) in Aug 2014
Interview
3 stage application process:
Application
Initial application
Telephone interview
Very straightforward interview. Questions such as what do you know about the company and why IT?
Assessment day 08/08/2014
9.00am - 3.00pm with 1hr lunch
The day was very good and relaxed they aren't trying to trick you. You get a good insight into the business and how the programme would work including a sample contract.
The interviews were straightforward very simple questions, as long as you give examples and show you are motivated and passionate about what you do - you should be fine.
There are 3 tests on the day:
Maths - 20 mental arithmetic. It is worth brushing up on your maths.
Aptitude - a combination of questions in programming, SJT, maths and theory.
Set notation and Venn diagrams - this can be tricky as it's down to interpretation. A booklet is provided to help ease the load but it's still worth to prepare in hindsight.
Overall it was a great day the people there are human and the other candidates were good to work with. I am in mixed moods as to whether I will get an offer as I am unsure about my performance in the remaining tests. However all will be known by Tuesday.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at FDM Group (Londres, Angleterre)
Interview
I applied online via the website. I received a call the next morning. I was invited to do a telephone interview that day at 3pm. After some research. I aced the telephone interview (they asked things like why FDM etc) and was invited for an assessment day a week later.
At the assessment day, there are 3 tests. A GCSE level maths test, A venn diagram and set notation test and an analytical reasoning test. All with no calculators allowed.
We then had 3 5 minute interviews with 3 senior people at FDM. It is actually quite enjoyable if you are confident.
Needless to say, i passed the assessment day (AD) and i start with FDM at the beginning of next month.
My main complaint would be the waiting time. During the AD, I made friends with 2 other guys. We exchanged details and said we would keep in touch. Towards the end of the AD, the person giving us our talk said that we should hear back within 48 hours. I was glued to my phone. After 24 hours, i got text messages from the 2 guys I had met on the AD saying that they hadn't been selected. I started to panic because i hadn't heard anything. My father told me that in these sorts of situations, no news is good news.
About 36 hours later, I received a phone call letting me know that I had been selected. So my main complain is about the waiting period. I got so nervous!
