Interview
I was headhunted by a member of their talent acquisitions team on LinkedIn where they shared a potential opportunity in their BPS function. Once I expressed interest we arranged a telephone conversation where I was informed of the proposition and what the role entails.
I was invited to first stage interviews after a couple of working days as they were keen to complete all first stage interviews within a couple of weeks.
I was interviewed by a panel of two where they started off by giving a brief introduction of themselves, and what their team does before handing over to myself. The first question was “why have you applied to this role?”- which I was slightly bemused as I had been approached first. I answered based on some research and discussions with the talent acquisition.
Generally they were competency based questions and probing on your IFRS technical accounting knowledge. It was clear they had some structured questions however they tend to deviate quite a lot when asking probing questions almost as they’re asking questions for the sake of asking.
My disappointment is the experience after the interview. As someone who currently works for a big 4 consultancy firm and have conducted numerous interviews, timely feedback is imperative regardless of outcome. I HAD WAITED 5 WEEKS for my outcome via an email!! I had to chase twice for feedback with no response from their HC team. This is poor form especially as they were keen to complete the process ASAP. The email was also worded with grammatical errors and spelling mistakes.
If this is the culture Deloitte sets then it’s a blessing in disguise I was not progressed to the 2nd stage.
The conversation was very friendly and casual, which made it easy and comfortable to speak openly. I appreciated the objective and direct approach—it helped keep things clear and focused without feeling overly formal. I had the opportunity to share my experience in a natural way, while also gaining a better understanding of the company’s culture, the team dynamics, and how they operate day to day. It felt like a two-way exchange rather than just a typical interview, and that made the interaction much more engaging and insightful.

Interview
Three interviews consisting of an initial screening call, a competency-based technical interview, and a final interview with a partner and director. All interviews were roughly a couple of weeks apart.
