      IOS Engineer Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Deezer in Aug 2017

      Interview

I applied online, and was contacted via email to complete a coding project. Once I submitted this, I never heard from them until I started looking for feedback after 10 days. I finally learnt the coding didn't satisfy their style. One of their complaints was I did the bare minimum. Well, obviously – my time is valuable, and I was only going to invest a certain amount of it for free. Statements like this truly reflect the company culture where they expect more for less, and probably don't value work/life balance. In a nutshell I never spoke with anyone in the company (No time for individuals / rude), and the whole process was a complete waste of my time. These coding projects tell you nothing about the quality of an employee, and how they can work in a team. They don't evaluate enthusiasm, passion for the product, problem solving, willingness to learn, or communication skills. I would also advise others not to invest any of your personal time to a company that won't speak with you first. It's clear such a company thinks of you as a resource first, not as a person.

      Question 1

I was asked to build a sample iOS Music app using their API, to search for an artist then allow the user to play 30 sec previews of an album.
