I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Caterpillar in Oct 2019
Interview
Caterpillar conducts interview directly off of the STAR method. They want to hear an experience, engineering or not, and how you conducted yourself. It is strange because they spend most of the time typing your response into a system but its pretty standard.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What was a time that you had a difficult customer and how did you handle the situation.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Caterpillar (Peterborough, Angleterre) in Jun 2018
Interview
Met in a group at the start and have to tell the place that you are there. Then you are taken to a small room where a presentation is given. After this they ask you to do a group activity, we had to create a structure made from dried spaghetti that was a certain height and could suspend a toy digger from, while doing this the interviewers watch from the back of the room. Then there is an interview where they gave a PCB from an engine and asked to name some of the parts. After the interview you have time to prepare a presentation sort of flow system diagrams, then you must present to the other 2 people that were at the back of the room, not the people who interviewed you.

Was there a time you had to overcome a challenge and how did you do it?
I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Caterpillar (San Jose, CA) in Dec 2019
Interview
It was informal, and mostly there were just questions about my resume. I was interviewed by my eventual manager. I was able to go over some in class projects I did, as well as my study abroad.
