Spoke with hiring manager and they were hesistant to share much, afraid of leaking anything about their model training. Makes it hard to understand the role. Also got asked about being able to speak mandarin. As with all my other interviews with the company, HR will ghost you after and does not bother to even send a rejection.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ByteDance in Mar 2024
Interview
The first round is a screening test involving deductive reasoning and explanation of the deductive process. The second stage was a fast and efficient interview - one with a member of the business team to assess reasoning capacity and provide explanation to answers provided in the screening test, the other a talent acquisition partner to discuss potential compensation and working conditions.
The rest of the time was spent waiting for offer letter to be approved and background check to be done, only to be thrown off the cliff the day before my start date. My offer was rescinded with a meagre compensation of 1 week's pay.
My advice: don't count on this company and keep applying elsewhere until you are a month in. Others have mentioned being terminated during orientation or the first week in.
