No HR call talking about the team or company or anything. Directly an email.... (This is a red flag bdw) Phone interview - Interviewer was nice so I got good hope that culture is atleast decent. Virtual onsite with cloud team - 1st round was coding with 2 people. Both were kinda not on same page but it's fine. Workable solution provided (efficient) 2nd round was system design. By no means they asked something sensible. It was "Web Application" Design that. And I tried to ask questions to the 2 people here to understand some more requirements but they insisted to NOT go deep and keep it high level. Once again the 2 people felt not on the same page asking different weird questions. I still went along and talked about everything in depth while communicating and putting it on whiteboard. 3rd round was split between 2 manager. Direct manager to the position and Manager of manager. 1st part was good in this. 2nd part was very very lame. Didn't sense any of the bloomberg values from him. 4th round was a no show coz of interview out sick which I wasn't informed of until I emailed them. I have heard these experiences are team specific and not at bloomberg level so I will give them benefit of doubt. But there are LOT of things that could be improved.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Some sort of Leet code meeting rooms II and very lame design webapp
Terrible communication. Got passed between 3 different recruiters all of whom gave specific dates for updates and blew past them. Descriptions of what would be covered in the interviews are wholly inaccurate (don’t bother reading the PDF they sent to “prep” you, almost none of it came up in any of the 3 interviews I did with them.)
Interviewers themselves were decent but clearly had exact “right” answers they were looking for. What’s the point of a leetcode question where there’s only one way to implement it? What’s the point of a system design interview where you’re having a candidate parse through a complex system that they clearly already know everything about and are just looking for 1-2 EXACT modifications to check off their boxes? Was there even a right answer? I genuinely don’t know what this company was looking for. Waste of time, waste of effort, waste of resources. Avoid, avoid, avoid
Interviewed with two separate teams. Coding rounds. Leet code style question. The interview went on for 1 hr. Waiting for the next steps. The seem to like link lists and arrays
