Interview Process: The initial interview was professional and straightforward. The panel was engaged, and I was given the impression that the process was nearing its end. In fact, the interviewers went as far as to explicitly state that the decision was between myself and one other candidate. They provided a clear verbal commitment that regardless of the outcome, I would be informed of the decision within a week.
The Post-Interview Experience: It has now been a month since that interview, and the experience has been incredibly unprofessional and disappointing. Despite the firm promise of an update, I have received no communication. I have followed up with the recruitment team (HRSS) three separate times via email to seek a status update, but all my inquiries have been met with total silence. Adding to the frustration, the online application portal still lists my status as "Interviewing," yet the team has essentially ghosted me.
Advice to Management: For a global firm, the lack of basic professional courtesy is surprising. If a candidate is told they are a finalist and promised a response, that commitment should be honored. Failing to provide a simple "no" after three follow-ups reflects poorly on the bank's brand and candidate experience in the Sydney market.
