      Business Analyst Interview

      Negative experience

      Application

      I interviewed at Arm

      Interview

Rejected no interview offered. Upon inspection of other roles, EVERY SINGLE one of ARM's roles will specify: "Experience working as . . . . . . . . . . " . . . suggesting they have no interest in progressing peoples careers and instead consider people as cogs within a machine - simply replacing part xyz with another homogeneous employee. It suggests that ARM's approach to staff has become impersonal and lazy, most probably with HR members simply covering their back by hiring to a specification rather than hiring a human being.

Thank you for applying and for leaving a review. I am sorry that you have such a negative perception of Arm. We absolutely do not consider our employees as cogs within a machine, so I am sorry that this is your impression of us. Most job descriptions for any company will mention experience working in a relevant field. This is not to say that Arm does not respect and value candidates with different work or educational backgrounds, and we will consider any candidate with a strong application for a role regardless of if their application matches perfectly with the job specification or not. One of our core beliefs is be your brilliant self, and we encourage employees to have unique and diverse thoughts, beliefs and ideas. We recognise that teams made up of individuals from not only diverse backgrounds, but also with diverse ways of thinking are often the most successful. Arm also has many programs designed to help our employees learn and grow, such as online courses, Lunch & Learns, and other training sessions. We also certainly encourage both upward and lateral mobility with the company. It is unfortunate that you feel this way about our hiring processes. Regardless, we value your feedback and will take it seriously as we continue to grow and improve our recruitment process. -Yvette S.

      Business Analyst Interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Arm

      Interview

The interview with the hiring manager felt impersonal and transactional. There was little to no effort to get to know me beyond standardized questions. It was a one-way interview, where they focused solely on assessing my understanding of the Business Analyst role rather than introducing the role itself or engaging in a meaningful conversation. Despite being a 30-minute session, the responsibility to drive engagement was entirely on me—they expected proactiveness without reciprocating. It felt like a pure assessment rather than a discussion, with no attempt to create a two-way dialogue or offer insights into the team, expectations, or company culture. I assume they operate this way because of their strong market position, but it raises doubts about whether their internal culture truly values collaboration and engagement. If the hiring process is this transactional, I question whether the work environment would be any different.

      Question 1

What is your understanding of the role of a Business Analyst? What are the key skills required for a Business Analyst? How do you gather and analyze business requirements?

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Arm (Cambridge, East of England, England) in May 2019

      Interview

20 minute telephone interview. Interviewer seemed to have not read up on my cv, covering letter or experience. Was asking questions which were clearly not related to my CV or just bog standard non specific questions. Felt like the interviewer was just “going through the motions” maybe due to having so many interviews to conduct or lack of time to read up on the candidate beforehand.

      Interview

Was referred via an ex-colleague who worked there, so only had a quick face to face interview with the delivery manager (just for them to meet me and confirm the recommendation). From referral to interview took a long time and then from interview to starting work was about 3 weeks.
