Interview
Recruiter was quick to respond to posting and very responsive in following emails although there was very little actual phone time with the recruiter. Went over 2 rounds of phone interviews; one technical and one managerial. Technical was relatively easy and managerial was very focused on personal approach to project methodologies.

Technical: Some very low level old school questions, and some thought into scalability.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Dec 2012
Interview
Contacted by an internal recruiter who set up a call (approx 45 min) with a TPM for a different group. Seemed that the interviewer wasn't entirely aware of the position I was going for. He seemed extremely cold and did not try to make me feel comfortable at all.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Amazon (Bengaluru) in Sep 2012
Interview
I was referred by a senior employee to the Amazon recruiters in India. In spite of that, I got a call about the same opportunity from a placement agency. I get spam calls everyday from such firms, so I said no. The very next day, the amazon recruiter called me, and then sent me the JD. Based on that, he arranged for a phone screen. The phone screen occured within a week.
Unfortunately, it was a completely negative interview, and it was evident that the interviewer was simply going through the motions. It lasted about an hour, where we went over my resume, my work done at previous firms and some design, data structure questions. [ This makes me wonder what would have happened if I had agreed to send my resume via the agency. ] I got the rejection mail within 24 hours.
