Recruiter contacted me by phone, out of the blue. I had just updated my resume in their system while applying for a different position. The role she called about was in Seattle (I don't live there now), but after talking with her the job sounded so interesting that I decided it was worth pursuing.
So, my conversation with the recruiter lasted about 30 minutes. She was very vague about the role and apologized but said due to nature of the role and fact it was in a new group, that without an NDA she could not go into great detail. There was still enough to pique my interest. I found her very straightforward. Kind of machine-like, as others have mentioned, however I was able to break the ice a bit and have a good conversation with her. She told me that she had already reviewed my resume with the hiring manager, and after talking with me she would forward my contact information on to a coordinator, who would arrange a time for a phone interview with the hiring manager.
As others have mentioned, I heard nothing for several days. Just when I was about to reach out to the coordinator (the first interviewer had verbally mentioned his name), he contacted me via email. I sent him my availability and within 48 hours, I had an interview booked for 2 days later.
