I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Dublin, Dublin) in Jan 2020
Interview
Applied online and received a confirmation email telling me they will look over my application.
- 1 week later I received an email saying I was into Phase 1 of the interview process, and they gave me a link to a coding debug challenges. The challenge consisted of 6 Java Applications, and the compiler throws an error when compiling, find and fix the error. It was rather simple and got 6/6 within 30 minutes.
- 1 week later I received an email telling me I did great in phase 1 and they prompted me to carry onto Phase 2, which is another java coding challenge. The challenge consisted of 2 coding questions that had to be completed within 1 hour.
- Around 6 days later I received an email telling me I am not knowledgable enough to enter the next phase which I'm guessing is a F2F interview.
Phase 1 is pretty simple, you should be able to pass it with the basic symbol and notation coding knowledge.
My advice to anyone getting ready for this interview would be to read: "Breaking the Coding Interview" and attempt all of the difficult questions. College exams would not have prepared you for these types of questions!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Phase 2 - Java Coding Question:
(Q1) Embedded Hashmaps and String Separation - very hard question, took me 40 minutes to complete.
(Q2) Fibonacci Sequence using Threads - could not complete within 20 minutes (Simply a mockery of a question)
Firs round its technical assessment 1 easy question and the next its medium Data structure question usually LinkedList operations. second round was virtual also sae format but unfortunately I did not use the interviewer for clues (I think they want you to engage with them). also behavioural questions on the culture of Amazon come prepared with stories to tell for each behavioural concept
I was sent an Online Assessment email in the day of application.
They had a list of helpful links on how to prepare for the assignment, including a full demo of the process and the coding environment which behaved exactly like the real HackerRank environment.
The OA had 2 LeetCode style questions, both had a very long description and took some time to process. Besides that, the questions themselves were quite difficult, the first one was easier than the second one but it was also difficult. Didn't do good enough so I was rejected a few hours after completing the OA.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Gdańsk) in Mar 2025
Interview
Coding test too difficult and not so much time. I did another test of 5 hours. No feedback and 2 weeks lost waiting for them. I would not recommend it for junior devs who want not to be frustrated
