I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Feb 2017
Interview
Amazon interviews are unique. I participated in a three part phone interview where each interviewer asked three questions each focusing on one of the leadership principals amazon uses. Each interviewer probed into answers provided, looking for clear and detailed descriptions of times in which i exhibited the qualities they looked for.

Question 1
Give me an example of your most difficult customer interaction and how you worked through it. What was the outcome?
Multiple online tests after application, followed by a virtual interview with various staff. Staff did not want to be on camera and did not have many good things to say about working there.
Prior to even speaking to anyone about a possible interview there was a long and lengthy testing required. Really disappointing to finish with no feedback or additional details. I only received an email post test.

Interview
