The initial screening interview went well, and I then met with the hiring manager. The interview with the hiring manager went for about 50 minutes (5 minutes over time) and was conducted over Teams.
While I thought I had very strong experience for the role, the majority of the interview was the hiring manager talking 'at' me rather than prompting many questions, making it feel like more of a one-sided conversation versus an interview. I got a rejection email a few days later saying I wasn't a right fit, which was frustrating because did not feel like I was given genuine consideration for the role despite my strong resume and experience that aligned with the role -- none of which was asked about during the call.
My conclusion was that the team already had an internal candidate in mind to fill the role, but they were going through the motions of interviewing external applicants to check the boxes. I'm sure this is a nice company to work for, but it's disappointing to see them using poor hiring practices and wasting people's time.
