I was contacted by a recruiter via LinkedIn, I confirmed my interest in the company and proceeding with the first interview in the process, which is a screening call with the aforementioned recruiter.
At the end of this call I was asked whether I was interested in proceeding further in the process, which was meant to be a technical screening with someone from the engineering team, to which I agreed.
After that, no news from the recruiter for around a week. I sent a few emails until I finally got a reply stating that I was interested in another position, we would have a call the day after at 12am. I accepted and requested a calendar invite to properly schedule it.
Since then, no news from the recruiter or Adevinta in any form.
Interestingly enough, I have read more interview reviews from other candidates describing a similar experience as me and with the same recruiter. This shows that my experience is not something isolated but rather consistent.
Recruiters/Adevinta, candidates give away their time in the recruitment processes, don't take it for granted. In return any candidate deserves a minimum of respect and the right to be duly informed of the status of her/his application. This is crucial to know what to expect and prioritise time and other potential candidatures.
Finally, don't forget that when a company is hiring, in a way, the company is in need and is asking for help; this means that company and candidate are in equal conditions, which reinforces my previous point about (mutual) respect and consideration. Clearly, Adevinta is failing in this.
