I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ALDI (Gladstone, Queensland) in Jan 2019
Interview
Interview was at 6.30am (before opening hours). There was a large group of us, over 18 people. Initially we were brought into the shop and stood around the trolley packing area whilst the Are Manager introduced herself and the floor manager. After that she gave us a tour of the store, explain how things worked as we went. When that was done we went back to the packing area, where she went around the group and asked each of us a set of questions. After this we had to do a small written test that included maths (the don't use change calculators on the tills). Once that was done it was over.
I applied online. I interviewed at ALDI (Gold Coast)
Interview
Applied online and was contacted 4 weeks later to attend a group interview at an Aldi store.
Our group was led to the shelving in one of the isles and asked to comment on what was different to other supermarkets. Lots of discussion about boxes, products , labeling and specials. Then into the Lunchroom/Staffroom for a 'tell us about yourself' and 'why you want to work for Aldi' around the table talk. Interviewer could not answer the amount of hours that were available per week, this was asked a couple of times and could only answer it depended on how hard you worked and that it was a physically and mentally demanding job. We were all left wondering was it a full time, part time or casual position ?
My advice...leave your pride at the door, grovel, smile alot and practice your politically correct answers, you may get the phone call back that day for your follow up interview or you will receive your very kind rejection email the next day. A sad and demoralising experience .
