People don't work at TC because of the compensation...
Pay:
Low retention rate because company does not provide incentive bonuses or raises. From my experience, coworkers are often stuck in the same salary for multiple years. Company gives 2% inflation when performance is excellent/exceeding expectations and 1% inflation when performance is sufficient/meeting expectations. After discussing career growth with supervisor and taking on more responsibility to justify a raise, I was constantly met with resistance about compensation. When they agreed to raise my salary, they forfeited my inflation the following year...
It's simply not enough to support living costs in the GTA...
Vacation:
2 weeks vacation from 1-3 years of employment
3 weeks vacation from 3-9 years of employment
4 weeks vacation from 9-15 years of employment
5 weeks vacation from 15+ years of employment
RRSP:
Company gives very poor contribution. TC contribution is based on a system of points that takes into account the sum of your age and your years of continuous service.
<40 points TC provides 25% of your contributions
40-49 points TC provides 50% of your contributions
50-59 points TC provides 75% of your contributions
60-69 points TC provides 100% of your contributions
For instance a recent grad (age 22) and 1 year experience equals 23 points...
You have to be over 40 years old before TC's contribution starts working to your benefit...
Understaffed and overworked:
Employees do not feel valued or see progression in their careers. Management will acquire new clients, but not adequately backfill roles (full-time employees leave, contractors are brought in).
