Pros

- Limited travel (but I am based in London and covering FS) - So far, decent work life balance (I transferred from the NY office to London) - Strong growth of business in UK and globally

Cons

- brain drain after acquisition of Booz - a lot of bureaucracy and compliance because of PwC - not welcoming to experienced hires; no system to integrate new colleagues - spotty industry / content coverage - Very varied quality of leadership / senior management - so far, very poor professional development - not systematic and highly dependent on which Director/Partner ends up overseeing your career progression

Pros

You will work with some of the sharpest, most career-minded young people you will meet in a business career. Definitely a proud legacy from Booz & Co. Now that it is part of PWC, you will have a amazing network of knowledgeable people on literally any topic, which builds a lot of opportunities. And the pay is first-rate, especially from year 2 to year 10 in experience.

Cons

Hours are long, on purpose, for many levels. 1am phone meetings, 48-hour-straight proposal sessions: SOP. I found the Strategy&/PwC environment generally toxic to technical folks, career-wise. It's not even a cultural or personal thing: the strict up-or-out culture doesn't allow time to transition from an engineering or architecture orientation to the hardnosed business environment, and just leads to a lot of drop-outs at the manager level and above, long before the pre-partner nominations. My advice: no MBA, no way.
