Pros

- OT pay quite good on weekends (for 8-6 weekday) - Canteen food is very good. Far better than Micron or GF.

Cons

- Horrible social atmosphere. Alot of self-pity and negativity. - Overworked bosses that looked very demotivated. - Dirty toilets that are always overcrowded. - Old engineers that hold way too much information and eventually become irreplaceable assets to company. They use this as leverage against their managers to come late for meetings, to not teach young blood properly etc. - OT culture that extends to working beyond 6pm is the norm. You might get criticized for not taking your work seriously if you do not stay back. OT on weekdays is not claimable due to a rule where you can't claim during dinnertime. - Career progression for grad engineers very unclear. Basically you become engineer lvl 1 then 2 then 3. - Pay progression is not attractive too. Senior engineers earning less than 5k/mth after working for more than 10 years do exist.

Pros

Depending on the department, it could be good for retirement and work-life balance in semiconductor industry. Has 13th month AWS and variable bonus. Friendly culture among your colleagues (except with your superior). Good for those who want to remain in their comfort zone.

Cons

Not much career progression observed as seniors tend to stay put and do not leave. Do not have comprehensive training program for new hires, only rely on so called on-the-job training which means you will be thrown straight into work. Production team has much more says (be it project or operational issues). Some production supervisors do not care much about quality as they are only concerned of moves/quantity. A lot of unnecessary red tapes to go through, procedure is not streamline and too much manual jobs. Some managers but not all, do not exhibit much leadership when advice is needed. Said managers will not help fellow engineers when being unfairly scolded by HOD for the manager’s own problems. French/Italian nationals are preferred while Asians are second class citizens.
