Pros

Well known company and brand. Good pay and benefits. Deep pockets to be able to provide a lot of perks. The higher your position, the greater the perks, which is probably the case in many organizations.

Cons

Lack of honesty and integrity by senior management. Definitely a "good old boys (and gals)" culture. Who you know will weigh more heavily than your contributions. As a new employee, it would be best to build your network as quickly as possible, even before focusing on your job and how you can contribute.

Pros

I make great money for the demographical area that I live in. The benefits are not bad but they use to be better. When I started 10 years ago the benefits were better. They keep taking more and more from us each year. Example: We use to get 10% of our annual salary in Stock options each year. Frito decided to lower that to 6% and match 50% of our 401K contributions up to 4%. Basically, they took 2% away. Of course, I realize that it wasn't my money anyway. Example: 10 years ago, I would pay 20 dollars for a co-pay when I went to the doctor. Now, we have deductibles that never get met. I had surgery last year and my max out of pocket for BCBS was 2700. I paid over 4000 out of pocket and BCBS will not reimburse. I used network doctors and facilities. For 2009, Medco will no longer pay for Allergy perscriptions. I take a med that is not available over the counter so I will be stuck with a 95 Dollar perscriptions every month.

Cons

Work/life balance is not there. Fritolay preaches work/life balance and say they are a family oriented organization but most employee's work weekends, holidays, nights, etc. Everyone is overwhelmed and has too much on their collective plates. Management is inconsistent and you can't depend on them to go to bat for you.

Pros

Benefits. The benefits offered by Frito-Lay, Inc. are probably among the best available in today's job market. They have health, vision, dental, life, disability, fully-funded pension, stock options, 401(k), flexible spending accounts, and more. People, in terms of co-workers, are very down to earth and a pleasure to work with. My peers are probably one of the biggest reasons I stayed with the company as long as I did. They endured same things and overcame the same challenges I was presented with early in my career there.

Cons

Work/Life Balance. You have no life. You will work 12-14 hours / day when you start. You will work 10-14 hours / day when you get used to things. You will work weekends. You will have to get up extremely early. You will work overtime. You will lose much value in your current relationships. Your health comes first. Don't sacrifice that for any job or any company, and you'll live much longer.
