Good work/life balance.

Pros

I worked in a non-clinical role therefore I had a significant amount of flexibility over my start and finish times, which was great for a work/life balance.

Cons

In the Trust I worked, the department was poorly structured which seriously limited career progression, so much so that the desirable teams would always choose to recruit externally than train existing staff up.

Pros

Varied environment where you are able to learn a lot. You work in multidisciplinary teams who are dedicated to their patients. There is a great sense of camaraderie and plenty of training events.

Cons

Too much paperwork and bureaucracy, opportunities to progress are limited and sparse, especially in pharmacy. Also inefficiencies are apparent from day one, but it requires too much red tape to change any processes. Poor pay and limited progression opportunities push many people away from the NHS.

Pros

You don't have any choice if you want to work as a nurse. At least not to begin with.

Cons

Nurse managers. Most of them are the pits. Occasionally you get a good on but rarely.
