Pros

- You can gain experience delivering major projects - Great people outside the function - Access to almost any software available on the market - The company sponsors further education, charterships, development

Cons

- Unclear progression path (negotiate your position from the outset!) - Lack of progression beyond Lead Digital Engineer position - Work predominantly on projects (a lot of travel!) - No pay rise, no bonuses, no company car - Current remuneration below the market level - Understaffed - Too many people in the DE function want to manage rather than deliver with the team - Poor culture, cronyism, cliques

Pros

The adoption of more flexible working patterns (although probably largely due to Covid and I would say they are not leading on this, when compared to other Tier 1's). High profile commitment to getting to a 50/50 gender split.

Cons

The opportunities are endless if you are an engineer - not so much in other disciplines. No pay rise for the past four years and a pay cut last year (for Covid reasons). Despite what the company says and publishes about caring for its employees - it often doesn't feel like it. Apart from gender - not much progress or hard targets on other aspects of diversity.
